Here is what I did with -my girlfriend's- old AT cabinet
Since this cabinet had another kind of power supply than what I was going to use, I had to see how I could attach the new power supply in a decent fashion.
versus
So, first I just drew a mirrored outline of the power supply-hole from another cabinet and cut it out like this:
But then I finally realized that it was mirrored, so I thought for a while (I'm no Einstein), and finally came up with the idea that I could just cut out a large square, attach a new metal sheet with the correct hole in it on the inside and fasten it with screws (had to drill holes, of course). The reason I put it on the inside of the cabinet is because if I didn't, I would get some difficulties taking the cover on and off at a later time.
And so I did:
I had to do some minor adjustments, like cutting a square hole on each side, near the top of the sheet, to be able to screw in the two topmost screws of the cover. Except for this, everything else was done exactly as with -my- ex-AT cabinet. My girlfriend's cabinet, when finished, looked like this:
Except it has a black cover now =)
